Author Guidelines
Sedulang: Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Their Teaching
Authors intending to submit manuscripts to Sedulang: Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Their Teaching are required to follow the guidelines below to ensure consistency in format and quality of publication.
1. Scope of Manuscripts
Sedulang welcomes scholarly manuscripts related to:
• Indonesian Language Education
• Linguistics
• Indonesian and Regional Literature
• Literature Education
• Cultural Studies and Local Wisdom
• Oral Traditions and Folklore
• Literacy Studies
• Language and Literature Learning Technologies
• Indonesian for Speakers of Other Languages (BIPA)
• Multicultural Education
• Digital Humanities
• Interdisciplinary Studies in Language, Literature, Culture, and Education
The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:
• Research Articles
• Conceptual Papers
• Literature Reviews
• Case Studies
• Best Practice Reports
2. General Requirements
1. The manuscript must be an original work and must not have been published or be under consideration elsewhere.
2. The manuscript must be free from plagiarism.
3. The maximum similarity index is 20%, excluding properly cited quotations and references.
4. Manuscripts may be written in either English or Indonesian.
5. Authors must use the journal template provided by the editorial board.
6. All submissions will undergo a double-blind peer-review process.
3. Manuscript Format
Length
• 5,000–8,000 words.
• Including tables, figures, and references.
Document Format
• Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
• A4 paper size
• Margins:
o Top: 3 cm
o Bottom: 3 cm
o Left: 3 cm
o Right: 3 cm
• Font: Times New Roman
• Font size: 12 pt
• Line spacing: 1.15
• Text alignment: Justified
4. Article Structure
Title
• Written in both English and Indonesian.
• Maximum 15 words.
• Clear, concise, and reflective of the manuscript content.
Author Information
The manuscript must include:
• Full name(s) of author(s) without academic titles.
• Institutional affiliation(s).
• ORCID ID (if available).
• Corresponding author’s email address.
Abstract
• Written in both English and Indonesian.
• 150–250 words.
• Must include:
o Background
o Research objectives
o Methodology
o Main findings
o Conclusion
Keywords
• Three to five keywords.
• Provided in both English and Indonesian.
Introduction
This section should contain:
• Research background.
• Relevant literature review.
• Research gap.
• Novelty of the study.
• Research objectives.
Method
This section should clearly describe:
• Research design or approach.
• Research setting and period.
• Participants or research objects.
• Data collection techniques.
• Data analysis procedures.
• Research instruments (if applicable).
Results and Discussion
This section should:
• Present findings systematically.
• Include tables, figures, or charts where appropriate.
• Interpret findings in relation to theories and previous studies.
• Highlight the contribution of the study to the field.
Conclusion
The conclusion should:
• Address the research objectives.
• Emphasize the contribution of the study.
• Avoid merely repeating the findings.
Recommendations (Optional)
May be included when relevant.
Acknowledgements (Optional)
May be addressed to:
• Research sponsors.
• Funding agencies.
• Individuals or institutions that contributed to the research.
References
• Must follow APA Style (7th Edition).
• At least 80% of references should be primary sources.
• Minimum of 15 references.
• Recent references published within the last ten years are highly encouraged.
• Authors are encouraged to use reference management software such as:
o Mendeley
o Zotero
o EndNote
5. Tables and Figures
Tables
• Numbered consecutively.
• Table titles should appear above the table.
• Sources should be provided below the table when necessary.
Figures
• Numbered consecutively.
• Figure captions should appear below the figure.
• Images must be clear and of high resolution.
6. Citation Policy
Authors are required to:
• Cite relevant and up-to-date sources.
• Avoid excessive or irrelevant citations.
• Avoid citation manipulation.
• Prioritize citations from reputable scholarly journals.
7. Peer Review Process
Each manuscript will undergo the following stages:
1. Initial screening for relevance to the journal’s focus and scope.
2. Formatting and plagiarism checks.
3. Review by at least two independent reviewers through a double-blind peer-review process.
4. Editorial decision:
o Accepted without revision.
o Accepted with minor revisions.
o Accepted with major revisions.
o Rejected.
The Editor-in-Chief's decision is final.
8. Ethical Statement
By submitting a manuscript to Sedulang: Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Their Teaching, authors declare that:
• The manuscript is original.
• The manuscript is free from plagiarism.
• The manuscript is not under consideration by another journal.
• All authors have approved the submission.
• All research data and findings are presented honestly and responsibly.
9. Submission of Manuscripts
Manuscripts must be submitted through the journal’s Open Journal Systems (OJS) platform after authors have registered an account.
Before submission, authors must ensure that:
✓ The manuscript falls within the journal’s focus and scope.
✓ The manuscript follows the journal template.
✓ Abstracts are provided in both English and Indonesian.
✓ References follow APA Style (7th Edition).
✓ The manuscript has been checked for plagiarism.
✓ All author metadata have been completed accurately.
