Screening Plagiarism
Sedulang: Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Their Teaching is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and publication ethics. To ensure the originality of all published works, every manuscript submitted to the journal is subjected to a plagiarism screening process before entering the peer-review stage.
The Editorial Team uses reliable plagiarism detection software to evaluate the similarity of submitted manuscripts. This screening is intended to identify potential plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, and improper citation practices.
The similarity check is conducted as part of the initial editorial assessment. Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's originality requirements may be returned to the authors for revision or rejected before being sent for peer review.
The journal considers the following forms of academic misconduct unacceptable:
• Plagiarism of another author's work.
• Self-plagiarism or redundant publication.
• Duplicate submission or duplicate publication.
• Improper citation or unattributed use of sources.
• Data fabrication or data falsification.
• Manipulation of research findings or references.
As a general guideline, the journal expects the overall similarity index to be no more than 20%, excluding bibliographies, quotations, and commonly used phrases. However, editorial decisions are based not only on the similarity percentage but also on the nature, source, and context of the overlapping text.
If plagiarism or other forms of academic misconduct are detected at any stage of the editorial or publication process, the journal may take one or more of the following actions:
• Request manuscript revision.
• Reject the manuscript.
• Withdraw the manuscript from the review process.
• Retract a published article.
• Notify the authors' affiliated institution when deemed necessary.
Authors are solely responsible for ensuring that their submitted manuscripts are original and properly cite all sources used. By submitting a manuscript, authors declare that their work is free from plagiarism and complies with the publication ethics of Sedulang: Journal of Language, Literature, Culture, and Their Teaching.
